Meadowood offers a special lodging rate as a courtesy to participants; however, lodging at Meadowood is not required to attend the Symposium.

Please note that attendance is limited to professional editorial writers and editors on wine, wine and food, and wine and travel. Public relations and marketing personnel, winery owners and employees and other non editorial people cannot complete registration. Qualified registrants must demonstrate two paid, published byline articles or similar paid writing in the 12 months prior to registering. If you are interested in applying for an open fellowship, please see the Fellowship Opportunities page for more details before registering.

If you're interested in applying for a fellowship, please check this box and see the Fellowship Opportunities Page

Published Works / Fellowship Entries

Both registrants and fellowship applicants must complete the section below. Qualified registrants and fellowship applicants must demonstrate at least two paid, published byline articles or similar paid writing in the 12 months prior to registering. Please provide here the information on two such articles: the name and email of your assigning editor or publisher for each, and links to where these articles can be read, or PDF copies of the articles. Links and PDFs need to show your byline, the publication name and date published. If these details are not evident through the link or PDF, please ask your assigning editor to email to verify your authorship and publication date.

Fellowship applicants should use the functions below to attach or link the two articles or one book chapter that they are submitting for judging in the writing competition. The same writing samples will serve to demonstrate eligibility for registration. Applicants must be sure to check the fellowship box above to indicate that they are interested. Note that anyone who received a fellowship in 2013-2015 is ineligible to apply for a 2016 fellowship.

Meadowood offers Symposium attendees a special lodging rate exclusively for participants of $295 per person per night plus applicable taxes. All rooms are non-smoking and feature a king-size bed. Symposium participants may extend this rate to dates just prior to or just following the Symposium, space permitting. Guest room assignments are based on availability and in the order in which the reservation is received.

Although the Symposium sessions are open only to Symposium participants, you may invite a guest to lodge with you at Meadowood. Kindly note that all guest rooms at Meadowood feature king beds. Guests are not invited to the meals that are part of the program.

Optional coaching sessions

Throughout the Symposium, personal coaching sessions will be available. Registrants will be informed prior to the symposium about how to schedule coaching sessions.

Biographical sketch

Please provide a brief biographical sketch of your professional wine writing (or wine/food or wine/travel writing) career (100 words or less) to be used in the Symposum resources.

Please note that in order to preserve the editorial nature of the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers, publicists and winery staff members are not eligible to attend. To complete registration, writers and editors must be able to demonstrate at least two paid, published articles on related subjects, or the equivalent, in the 12 months prior to registration.
